Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli (73 kg) earned India's third gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2022, living up to his high profile.

Achinta Sheuli won the competition with lifts of 143 kg in a snatch and 170 kg in a clean and jerk, beating off Malaysia's Erry Hidayat Mohammad for second place with a total of 303 kg and Canada's Darsigny for third place with a total of 298 kg.

The gold medal won by Achinta Sheuli is India's third at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and its sixth overall; all of them came from weightlifting.
