The books I used were the same ones I had used since the beginning of my training, I was provided
I read the books mentioned below for preparation of FCPS Radiology,
Snell clinical anatomy by regions (Big Snell) for the thorax, chest, pelvis, and reproductive organs
Head and neck these areas are extremely important for the radiology exam and are thoroughly probed. You don’t need to do the upper and lower limb exercises from the big book, according to Snell’s review.
Plus, RJ Last, I didn’t read this book on my first try, and I found paper 2 tough, so I purchased it and learned the topics of the belly, thorax, pelvis, and head and neck. I just read this book on a topic-by-topic basis; there was no reason to read the whole book. This book made my anatomy principles crystal clear and easy to recall. So, if you have time, does RJ last, at least two readings on topics, and then stick to Snell and Snell review, as well as at least once doing MCQs from Snell review. Do general anatomy topics from every book; I followed Last and Snell’s advice and googled a few topics. I have used Last to look up some subject from MCQ books.
Neuroanatomy: I completed Kaplan Neuroanatomy in its entirety. I crammed the neuro section of FirstAid after two Kaplan reads. It was the most successful for me.
Histology: I read Kaplan Histology twice at first, but only for epithelia, connective tissue, muscle, nervous tissue, lymphoid tissue, and some GIT, respiratory, and gonad subjects. Then I just crammed the rabia ali part of histo, including some useful points at the top.
Embryology: I did general embryology from High yield embryology and covered special embryology from firstAid, and I followed pictures from High yield while reading systems construction topics to help me recall the topics.
Physiology: I completed all of BRS physiology, as well as blood topics from a large journal. Once you’ve completed BRS, the physio section of FirstAid should suffice. I really enjoyed reading FirstAid’s endocrinology and renal physiology sections because they helped me understand my concepts better.
It’s important to get a firm grasp on endocrinology to pass FCPS-I in Radiology
Pathology: I did general pathology from BRS pathology, then read general pathology from FirstAid and applied some extra points from BRS to FirstAid, then put BRS aside and only replicated readings from FirsAid, like neoplasia. So I crammed the general path section of patho from firstAid in the end.
For special pathology, I simply read FirstAid; there is no need to read any other book. Do the Rabia ali part of the special path subject by topic if possible.
Biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceuticals, biostatistics, immunology, pathology, and behavioural sciences are also areas of research.
Both of these are from firstAid.
FirstAid: This is the most important book with both paper 1 and paper 2 in FCPS-I in Radiology. You will find this book daunting at first, but trust me when I say that after two readings, you will fall in love with it. It is my favorite novel, and I completed it all but the psychiatry section.
To elaborate a little, I did the first portion in detail, while the second portion, which deals with organ systems, I did it subject by subject, for example, I covered only the patho sections of both systems first, since I had already read the anatomy and physio parts from other texts. Then I only did the embryo parts, and in my third revision, I read the anatomy and physiology sections, which helped me easily revise these subjects because they are very concisely and pictorially described in firstAid. Finally, in my fourth and fifth revisions, I read the whole firstAid in one sitting twice. This allowed me to connect all of my interests and engage my mind in a variety of tasks at the same time. It helped me with my first paper and some of my second paper.
BCQ books: These are crucial, and without them, you can never pass the test.
Do after each area / subject, Rabia Ali. It’s best to learn everything (except dentistry), but anatomy, physiology, general pathology, biochemistry, histo, biostatistics, pharmacology, microbiology, and embryology are the most significant.
Asim and Shoaib (surgery and medicine): I have assisted with the anatomy section of Asim and Shoaib’s gynecology exams. I completed the anatomy, physiology, and pathology sections of these books. You should start these books from the beginning so that once you’ve completed your syllabus; you’ve also completed these books. These books are very helpful in educating you about the structure of problems on paper and how to approach them.
Do these at least three times and the anatomy section at least four times.
After you’ve covered Asim and Shoaib, Chandkians, repeat the process at least twice more. Mark the bcqs you think will be updated in your second revision, and do just the marked ones the third time.
I spent four months studying. Follow the cpsp radiology syllabus, allocating time to subjects based on their importance.
There is no particular timetable in FCPS Radiology ; you can follow your own as you learned previously; don’t make a strict schedule; instead, maintain a plan to cover topics on time and to do rabia ali at the end of each unit (at least twice); and in the evening, when you are exhausted, relax and then give an hour or two to asim and shoaib; once they are covered, give the same time to the chandkians. Check the answers to BCQs that seem to have been answered incorrectly in the text book or online, or add the query on this page. Extend the time you spend on BCQ books when you get closer to the exam, so you can do theory in the first half of the day and MCQs in the second. Also, when solving BCQs, use Google to support you, as it saved me a lot of time.
Apart from that, do some recent past papers available online, and solve around 3 to 4 times some questions given on cpsp online practice tests in the last 15 days; this will prepare you for the exam and improve your morale. Regardless of if you are aware of the cpsp shift of pool or format, note that more than 60% of the questions are still recycled, so do your best to prepare so that when you solve the article, it seems as if you are solving previously attempted BCQs.
FCPS Radiology – The online examination system is excellent and easy to use.
Finally, but certainly not least, PRAY!!! What you have to do is work hard and leave the rest to Allah Almighty for it is in His hands and He is the greatest planner.
