9 Best Cryptocurrencies Under 1 Dollar | You’ve probably heard of Bitcoin, the first and most widely used cryptocurrency in the world. While Bitcoin might be the biggest cryptocurrency, it’s certainly not the only one — there are actually hundreds of cryptocurrencies out there with varying values and technologies behind them. Check out this list of the top 10 cryptocurrencies under $1 to see which other crypto coins you can invest in now!
Dogecoin (DOGE)

This meme-inspired cryptocurrency is one of my personal favorites. Created in December 2013, Dogecoin is based on Litecoin, and has a market cap of $115 million. Dogecoin’s biggest draws are its huge community (almost 50,000 Reddit subscribers) and its stability. While it hasn’t experienced any massive spikes in price over the past year or two, it has stayed around $0.0015 for about a year now – and doesn’t look like it’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.
Primecoin (XPM)

Primecoin is a cryptocurrency that implements a unique scientific computing proof-of-work system. Similar to Bitcoin, Primecoin can be mined and exchanged for fiat money. Unlike Bitcoin, Primecoin introduces a unique form of proof-of-work based on prime numbers. This form of proof-of-work generates solutions to certain mathematical problems (LLR) for which there is no known efficient method of finding solutions other than brute force search over an interval . Thus, solutions to these mathematical problems can only be discovered using computing hardware capable of running continuously for an extended period before ultimately exhausting all possible combinations within that interval. This means that generating new blocks in Primecoin takes significantly longer than in other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Stellar Lumens (XLM)

It’s no secret that investors are looking for new and unique ways to grow their money. While a lot of attention has been paid to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other popular digital currencies lately, there is an entire world of cryptocurrencies waiting to be discovered. One such currency worth looking into is Stellar Lumens (XLM). With a market cap over $7 billion and growing, Stellar Lumens certainly isn’t an underdog when it comes to making money in digital currency. The most amazing thing about XLM? It’s price per token is just $0.23 right now! If you want more information on how to invest in cryptocurrency under 1 dollar right now, check out our guide below
Ripple (XRP)

Ripple is a real-time gross settlement system, currency exchange and remittance network created by Ripple Labs Inc., a US based technology company. The digital currency has grown in value substantially since its creation in 2012, when it was worth less than one cent. It is currently one of world’s largest cryptocurrencies with a market capitalization of over USD$11 billion. This could be attributed to its low supply of 100 billion coins and fast transaction speeds making it ideal for banks and international transactions. Its transaction speeds can process up to 1500 transactions per second which makes it faster than Bitcoin. It charges very little or no fees hence making it more suitable for business transactions compared to other cryptocurrencies on our list that have higher transaction fees.
DigiByte (DGB)

DigiByte (DGB) is a public, rapidly growing and highly decentralized blockchain. DigiBytes are digital assets that cannot be destroyed, counterfeited or hacked, making them ideal for protecting objects of value like currency, information, property or important digital data. DigiBytes can be sent over the DigiByte Blockchain and forever recorded on an immutable public ledger that is decentralized on thousands of computers across the planet. The current supply of DGBs is eight-and-half years worth at current market rates – or 1.4 billion DGBs total — which will fully be mined by 2035.
Monero (XMR)

This popular cryptocurrency is based on a different codebase than Bitcoin, which allows it to have more privacy features. Monero is also fungible, meaning that every unit of Monero can be substituted by another without any loss of value. XMR operates as a decentralized anonymous payment system, and can only be mined using CPU or GPU power. The best part? A single XMR is still worth $0.83 at press time—meaning you won’t need to spend an arm and a leg to get started with cryptocurrency trading!
Basic Attention Token (BAT)

BAT is a unique blockchain-based digital advertising platform that promises to remove middlemen and give control back to content creators. Using BAT, companies can advertise directly to site viewers and creators can get paid for their efforts. Users will also be able to use it on Brave’s ad-free web browser, which speeds up page load times as well as offers users additional privacy protection. There’s a reason BAT has attracted high-profile partnerships with industry giants like Dow Jones, Uber, and Getty Images—the protocol promises to be one of 2018’s top cryptocurrencies under $1. Ethereum (ETH): With over 900 initial coin offerings (ICOs) conducted on its platform in 2017 alone, it would seem there are few industries Ethereum isn’t capable of disrupting.
Zcash (ZEC)

Launched in 2016, Zcash is a decentralized and open-source cryptocurrency that offers privacy and selective transparency of transactions. It boasts having an improvement in privacy compared to Bitcoin. Zcash offers its users the choice of shielded transactions, which allow for content to be encrypted using advanced cryptographic technique or zero-knowledge proof construction called a zk-SNARK developed by its team. These shielded transactions protect the users from exposing their transaction metadata.
IOTA (MIOTA)

IOTA is a next-generation blockchain protocol that’s fully scalable, making it an ideal fit for IoT devices and ecosystems. With hundreds of transactions per second at zero fees, IOTA makes conventional blockchain systems look obsolete in comparison. IOTA’s cryptocurrency, MIOTA, has been on a tear since its 2017 launch; with a market cap of just over $2 billion and significant partnerships under its belt (with companies like Microsoft), there’s no question that you should keep an eye on it going forward.
